WRITING: Robyn has been published regionally and nationally in both newspapers and magazines, including her own column and editorials in North County, San Diego. She spent 15 years in radio as everything from news director to on-air d.j., her last station was with KABC in L.A. Her years as a radio journalist also allowed her to do over 60 hours of documentaries on Hawaiian history and culture which inspired her to begin her current project which is the first of a historical fiction trilogy of the Hawaiian story. In addition, she is an MFA candidate in the Creative Writing Program at Columbia College, Chicago and is also teaching creative writing through the school using the Story Workshop Method developed by writing pioneer, John Schultz.
FILM/VIDEO: In Hollywood for over fifteen years, Robyn did everything from PA to producer working with some of the elite in the entertainment world. At Columbia, she added post production to her quiver of skills and her first asst. editor credit is on a documentary "Senator Obama Goes to Africa" which was even shown on Oprah! Now with some 15 documentaries under her belt, Eastman continues to combine her creative skills to focus on topics that will bring greater understanding between cultures and people.
ART: Robyn has worked in a variety of mediums over the years. Her work in the seventies was shown in and around the Chicago area to dynamic reviews. Though she had no formal training in her early years, she spent many a day scouring the Art Institute for her favorite artists who helped her with the angst that the 60's that wrapped around most people who cared. Her favorites being Picasso, Dali, Michaelangelo and Davinci.Today she adores O’Keeffe, Gaughin, and the post impressionists. Her studies focused on the content and the revelations that artists exuded in their work and how it related to the world. As a ‘sixties’ kid, she has ever been the rebel and found that she could not separate her painting from her writing. Most of her paintings include a story that is placed in her yearly art book...Art with a Story.
Robyn’s work is a volcano of expression utilizing vibrant colors and the gentle whisperings from the heart of her world to help others touch the heart of theirs.
